Wales' first minister has SLOT XO confirmed his government will not be making any changes to Covid restrictions in the next three weeks because of the spread of the Delta variant.
Speaking at the Welsh government’s three-weekly review briefing, Mark Drakeford says the Delta variant is “spreading quickly” in the country and across the UK.
“Last Friday, there were just under 500 confirmed cases of the variant.
"Today, the very latest available figures show the number has more than doubled – there are around 1,100 cases now in Wales and that number is rising."
He says it is highest in north Wales, where four of the six local authority areas have rates higher than 50 cases per 100,000 people.
“As many as 97% of new cases of coronavirus in north Wales are caused by the delta variant," says Drakeford.
